before & after
Smiles made just for you
This patient of ours had rampant cavities caused by sipping on energy drinks throughout the day. The first step was to work with him to stop further damage by changing the bacterial flora in his mouth from the unhealthy, cavity causing species to a healthy species—thus reducing the risk of getting future cavities.
We then digitally created a smile for him, allowing us both to create a template for his future smile. Our Del Mar dental team replaced the ravaged tooth structure with well sealed porcelain veneers. We worked through the shape, color, and characterization of his smile to create a smile which was healthier in appearance but not too bright or “too perfect.” The smile complemented his skin tone and personality. He has remained cavity-free for over 5 years now!
How Does it Work?
Cosmetic Treatment with Veneers
Veneers are typically made of porcelain and they are designed to fit perfectly over the front surfaces of your teeth. By covering up your enamel, veneers can treat a wide variety of different cosmetic issues, ranging from uneven and gapped teeth to slightly-crooked, stained or misshapen teeth. Veneers are strong and durable, and they are a great long-term option to improve the aesthetics of your smile.
What Can I Expect
The Veneer Treatment Process
Once your dentist approves you for treatment, we can typically complete your procedure in just two visits. At your first appointment, a small amount of enamel will be removed from your teeth to prepare them for veneers. This is done to ensure that your veneers fit seamlessly and look natural. Then, images and impressions of your teeth will be taken and sent to our partner dental lab.
It will take about 2-3 weeks for your veneers to be built, so we will attach a set of temporary veneers for you to wear in the meantime. Once your permanent veneers arrive at our Del Mar office, our doctors will check them to ensure that the fit is perfect, then bond each one into place using dental cement.

Cost & Durability
How Long Will Veneers LasT?
With proper care, you can expect your veneers to last 10-15 years or longer. To ensure that your veneers last as long as possible, be sure to brush and floss properly, and see your dentist at Del Mar Dental Studio for an oral exam every six months. It’s also good to avoid chewing non-food objects or hard foods with your front teeth to prevent chipping or dislodging of your veneers.
The cost of veneers depends on the number of factors, including how many teeth you would like to treat and your oral health. To get an accurate cost estimate, schedule a consultation with your dentist in Del Mar today!
Types of Veneers
A beautiful smile is more than just a sign of good oral health. It can boost your self-confidence, enhance your appearance, and even influence how others perceive you. If you've been dreaming of a perfect, movie-star smile, veneers could be the solution you've been looking for. At Del Mar Dental Studio, under the expert guidance of Dr. Todd Pizzi, we offer a range of veneer options, including no-prep and porcelain veneers, to help you achieve the smile you've always wanted.
No-Prep Veneers
For those who desire a significant smile makeover without the need for extensive dental procedures, no-prep veneers can be an excellent choice. As the name suggests, no-prep veneers require little to no preparation of the natural tooth structure, making them a minimally invasive option.
Created from ultra-thin layers of porcelain or composite resin, no-prep veneers are bonded directly onto the front surface of your teeth. They can correct a variety of aesthetic issues, including stains, chips, gaps, and minor misalignments. The procedure is typically painless and can be completed in just one or two visits to our Del Mar office.
One of the key advantages of no-prep veneers is that they preserve more of your natural tooth structure compared to traditional veneers. This makes them a more reversible option if you decide to remove them. However, it's important to note that no-prep veneers may not be suitable for everyone. During your consultation, Dr. Pizzi will assess your oral health and discuss your aesthetic goals to determine if no-prep veneers in Del Mar are the right choice for you.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are often considered the gold standard in cosmetic dentistry due to their superior aesthetic qualities and durability. Like no-prep veneers, porcelain veneers are thin shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth. However, they require a small amount of tooth preparation to ensure a seamless fit.
Crafted from high-quality dental porcelain, these veneers closely mimic the light-reflecting properties of natural tooth enamel, creating a highly realistic and natural-looking result. They are also highly resistant to stains and can last up to 15 years or longer with proper care.
The process of getting porcelain veneers typically involves two to three visits to our Del Mar office. During the first visit, Dr. Pizzi will prepare your teeth and take impressions, which will be used to custom-make your veneers. On your second visit, your veneers will be bonded to your teeth. If necessary, a third visit may be scheduled to ensure your veneers fit perfectly and you're completely satisfied with your new smile.
Whether you choose no-prep or porcelain veneers, you can trust Dr. Pizzi and the team at Del Mar Dental Studio to provide expert care and guidance every step of the way. We're committed to helping you achieve a smile that not only looks great but also enhances your overall sense of well-being. With our advanced veneer options, your dream smile could be just a few appointments away.
SAVE THOSE PIECES OF TEETH!
This 19 year old athlete came to us after seeing another dentist. The teen had fallen on the volleyball court and broken his two front teeth!! Mom was understandably devastated after recently completing orthodontics. Luckily the coach picked up the fragments and placed them in saline and gave them to the patient. The Mom went to a local dentist who recommended 2 crowns be placed on the teeth. Crowns are a possible treatment however they are the most aggressive therapy possible. The preparation for crowns is extremely aggressive and would have weakened the existing tooth structure. Crowning these 2 teeth would have increased the risk for needing root canals, tooth fracture, and tooth loss. My solution was to take the tiny pieces and precisely rebond them (like 2 tiny jigsaw puzzle pieces) and reinforce them with composite resin. The composite acted to reinforce the bonded pieces and fill in any voids on the surface. The composite I used was translucent to help deflect light and make the lines unnoticeable at a social distance. The lower teeth were an old injury and I restored them with bonded fillings. Mom, teen, and orthodontist were ecstatic with the outcome. Is this a “permanent" solution? No, it’s not permanent. (Although I do have a case which was done 7 years ago and showing no sign of degradation). What I have done is “buy this teen time” without weakening the existing tooth structure. With proper care the bonding may last another 5 to 10 years and the patient will have more treatment options in the future with advancements in dental materials and techniques.
